Keith Dutton

Sad to report the death of Keith Dutton recently at the age of 84. Keith was a long time member of the club and C team. He was an excellent carpenter who made all the club boxes for the jacks that we still use today as well as the trophy cabinet. He was, with his wife Dianne a member of the Grappenhall short mat bowlers run by Ken Fleming where he made all the boxes for the equipment there. The abiding memory of Keith on the green was that he never practiced and always arrived five minutes before the start of the game!.

Stan sadly passed away recently at the age of 98, he was a member of the APBC C team, GexSM Mixed Pairs where he partnered Linda Blundell from our ladies section as well as being a regular short mat bowler through to winter at Grappenhall Community Centre. He was a regular on the away days.

Stan was excellent company blessed with a good sense of humour and always had a twinkle in his eye so the ladies said. Towards the end of WW2 he was a young signalman on a Royal Navy Minesweeper when his sister ship was sunk by a kamikazi plane of the coast of Thailand in the Indian Ocean.

Bowling Greens

Nice to see that the fencing work around one half of both greens has been completed, hopefully this will go some way to keeping dogs/cyclists off the greens. Complete enclosure should be possible when further funding is available.

Secondly, we now have replacement shutters on the small pavilion, this should provide better security and improve the appearance of the building. Who has the keys to open them?.
