In memory of Colin

To those of you who knew Colin Stanton, as well as a memorial bench at Alexandra Park opposite the small pavilion, you might like to know that there is one at Walton Gardens in his memory too.

Colin was head gardener at Walton Gardens for many years.

Situated by the pond it’s a nice spot for a few minutes rest when exploring Walton Park, a lovely reminder of a great friend and a wonderful bowler

Away Day at Croft – 15th June

It was a warm sunny day on our annual day out at Croft BC and for the first time we had made this a full day competition to fall in line with our other away days. There were 30 bowlers in attendance comprising of members of our 3 seniors league teams as well as social bowlers. It was also nice to see a couple of ladies joining us for the first time.

The competition was based on the usual format with 2 rounds before lunch and 2 rounds afterwards. The buffet lunch was enjoyable and just the ticket on a hot day.

In the final analysis the winner was Denis and there was a 4 way tie for second between John, Brian, Arthur and Geoff.

2nd Linda – Lady’s Section
3rd John – Senior’s C team

The trophy and first prize were presented to Jim by members of Platinum Fencing, the main sponsor and club sponsored prizes were presented to the runners up. In summary an enjoyable afternoon and competition that fitted in well with the Park celebrations.
